About

Connor Medgaus, DMD

Implant surgery, full-arch prosthetics, IV sedation.

I'm a dentist in the Austin area, and my clinical work is implant surgery and the prosthetics that go with it: full-arch reconstruction, single implants, complex extractions, and third molars. On a typical day I'm in surgery in the morning, placing implants under IV sedation that I administer myself, and in the afternoon I'm fitting and finishing the teeth that go on them. I've placed more than 700 implants, most of them in full-arch cases.

I trained at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and went straight into implant surgery, with intensive programs through Implant Pathway and the Misch Implant Institute, a 100-hour IV sedation training program, and advanced training in sedating medically complex patients. I'm a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and currently in its MaxiCourse, a year-long implant program, on the path to Diplomate status with the American Board of Oral Implantology. I also serve as a clinical advisor to Stabili-Teeth, a full-arch treatment system.

What I care about most is continuity. The person who plans your case, does the surgery, manages your sedation, and delivers your final teeth should be the same person. That's how I practice.

Outside the clinic I play tennis and pickleball, make music on synthesizers, and I'm slowly learning to climb. Bio is a draft — approve, edit, or send bullets for a rewrite

What I do

  • Full-arch implant reconstruction. Removal of failing teeth, implant placement, same-day fixed teeth, and the final prosthesis.
  • Single and multiple implants. Including extraction with immediate placement and grafting where needed.
  • Complex extractions and third molars. Under IV sedation when appropriate.
  • Implant prosthetics. I restore what I place, from the temporary through the final bridge or crown.

How I practice

  • One clinician for the whole arc. I do the surgery, the sedation, the conversion the same day, and the final prosthesis. You are never handed to someone who wasn't in the room.
  • Sedation taken seriously. Every sedation is planned against your medical history, monitored continuously, and documented. Patients with more complex health histories are cleared with their physician first.
  • Plain answers. I would rather tell you a full-arch bridge is the wrong choice for you than sell you one.
